In 2015 our company made the commitment to address the complaints we were getting from both staff members and residents about dog owners failing to properly clean up their pet waste.  We decided it was time to hire a Pet DNA company!  At that time, we signed up all 15 of our properties with one company to perform Pet DNA testing, which unfortunately was not PooPrints!  In early 2017 we were faced with the very unfortunate situation of having to find a new company to take over all of our accounts because our existing provider had let us down with the service they were providing.


Luckily, we learned about PooPrints from our visit to the NAA conference in June 2016.  We called corporate and they were extremely helpful, even invited to come visit the testing facility in Knoxville. We were put in touch with a PooPrints rep and turned over all 15 accounts within a few months of connecting with him.


I am delighted to say that our rep delivered on every promise; from ensuring that our transition to PooPrints was smooth to helping us overcome the complaints from our residents due to the re-testing!  Our rep provided training to our team members and continues to be in touch with them on a regular basis.

“JJS Property Management, Inc. currently manages 25 apartment communities in the St. Cloud, MN metro area. Three of the apartment communities are dog friendly. We were struggling with irresponsible pet owners not picking up after their dogs regularly. We experienced phone calls from several of our tenants, frustrated with the pet owners who chose not to maintain a clean property. “Ashland Park began DNA testing October, 2012 after repeatedly having to warn dog owners of the policy to pick up after their pets. Dogs, residents, and children were having to watch where they stepped and inadvertently tracking through the waste. Compliant dog owners and non-dog owners were complaining of having to pay for contractors to pick up dog waste of irresponsible owners. Finally we resorted to PooPrint testing and have No Regrets!

How could we do that? APC (Ashland Park Condominiums) pet policy is clear. And because we address to all new residents that there are no exceptions to “no poop on the grounds.” We charge a $100 testing fee if a match is found plus $200 fine. The policy permits only two strikes. With the second fine, the dog is evicted from the property.

We have had no complaints from new residents and now we have no complaints from anyone who has stepped in, paid for, or had to encounter poop on the ground. We agree this is the best program the HOA has implemented in the complex.”

“I happened upon the PooPrints Program out of frustration that I could not catch my residents in the act of not picking up after their pets. We began to have a real issue with pet poop on the grounds and my responsible pet owners and non-pet-owner’s alike were getting very upset and fed up. We had 71 dogs in our community that we had to collect DNA samples from. PooPrints provided all the letters to send out; I just had to put in my community name! All the residents but three made their appointments and came in before the deadline. I sent the warning letter to the three apartments that we had not heard from and they responded promptly. We have had zero objections to this program thus far and countless compliments on how well it has worked. “Our property of 28 acres and 402 condo owners and 100 dogs had major poop issues until we instituted the PooPrints Program five years ago. We required all dogs to be cheek swabbed for identification into the DNA database. This database is able to identify un-scooped poop that is sent for testing (provided they are in the database).

The HOA paid for the initial set-up and since then, we require all homeowners to pay $50/dog for the swabbing. If you are caught not scooping, you get fined.

The whole property was cleaned of all poop and the trigger was pulled. It was an immediate vast improvement! Five people got fined and word spread how serious we were and that was the end of poop all over our community. Five years later, we have an occasional violation and they get fined.
